Roycroft Motifs
Roycroft, an artistic community founded by Elbert Hubbard in 1895 was home to a number of renowned designers and craftspeople of the Arts & Crafts era. I am proud to be a member of Roycroft Renaissance Artisans, a juried guild of craftspersons whose work is recognized for continuing the tradition of handcrafts as practiced at the turn-of-the-century.
Roycroft Tulip Pillow
This motif is adapted from a design by Dard
Hunter for the stained glass windows at the Roycroft Inn. It shows the influence
from his studies in Vienna.
The pillow is made of Flax Canvas with the design stenciled, the flower in a
choice of periwinkle or russet, the leaves in olive green and small squares
in gold. Hand embroidery is worked in stem stitch in black. Finished size is
22" x 22".
